The process of making my gothic lolita dress

I went through various different degsins. At first I went for a sweet black and white JSK but it looked like a shitty AP copy so I instead degsined a gothic/old-school black and white dress based on older lolita peices such as the ones in the Gothic and Lolita Bible and I especcially like some of the ones from this F Yeah Lolita blog.

I think the reason I kept the dress black and white was because I wanted it to match the capelet I was going to make, but preffered it to be all black so that's what I ended up doing.

So, I bought black cotton fabric (probably not the best fabric choice but this was only my second sewing project so I wanted something easy and somthing I knew was ok for me senory-wise), I used a circle skirt calculator (very useful) and cut out the circle skirt.
